(Re) Intro
hello!
Let’s start by saying, I am Nikki and it is nice to have you here on the blog! I recently completely revamped, moved, and switched website providers to start this new adventure into private practice! I am a Texas gal through and through; however, I live in Oregon. Upon moving to Oregon, who knew I would be here a few years later experiencing the many beautiful things Oregon has to offer. I won’t mention the rain.. No one moves here for the rain. If you don’t know…it rains A LOT. I am to the point that it could be raining and I don’t even notice it is in fact raining. To all you Texans out there, appreciate the thunderstorms. But like I said, I won’t mention the rain. I did mention private practice so don’t worry, my private practice will accept Oregonians and Texans alike. Ya girl is licensed in both states.
If you followed my previous “attempts” at blogging, God Bless you. I started this a few years ago because I needed a creative outlet from work. Yes, more work to get away from work. It actually was going to start out as an online clothing boutique to help give a percentage to food banks, soup kitchens, and homeless shelters. Now, that is still a goal but not in a boutique way- let’s be real, I can shop for clothes but selling, eh. I still have the “clothes” I was going to “sale” in boxes. I laugh at myself now.
Speed up, I moved across the country for my job and that idea was put on hold. I still wanted to blog but taking care of my daily duties at work took A LOT of my time so blogging went on the back burner. I actually still enjoy figuring this type of stuff out because it keeps my brain going. Over the years, I have seen interesting nutrition related cases come across my sports. I love it- it encourages me to be a better RD. Unfortunately, I don’t always get to dive into clinical cases and create behavior change so starting a private practice allows me to work towards getting experience and striving for some personal goals to continue to allow me to grow as a RD such as becoming a Certified Eating Disorder Specialist.
Speed up to 2020, my “new year’s” goals were crazy but starting a private practice is a large one. So here I am (re)introducing myself as someone taking a dive into an area that is absolutely new. Treading water over here but my passion is helping people who want to help themselves through nutrition. My hopes for a private practice is to encourage individuals to reach their goals through creating healthy relationships fueling their bodies with food. I am still sticking to my name: ROAM. It stands for Reaching Out and Assisting Meals. I still like to “roam” the world, and plan to write about those adventures but I am hoping I can challenge people to “ROAM” to new adventures with food.
